The real deal...

Leon Betts

We just took delivery of this 1967 Mustang. Yes, another Mustang! But not just any Mustang. This is a genuine S-code...that's a 390 GT complete with a 4-speed manual box. It's come in for a full restoration. The nice thing about this job is that this is the second car our customer has entrusted Ol' School Garage to restore for him.

'55 Chev update...

There's been a burst a real of activity on my '55 Chev. You may remember my New Year's resolution was to get this project finished this year...I reckon we just might make it! Tim tells me the Chev is off to the paint shop next week. So, the pressure seems to be now on me to finalise the colour scheme.

Dodge car carrier update...

Leon Betts

It's been a rather slow process, but the upgrade of our car carrier is just about complete. Our friend Sam, at Sam Keddie Signs, applied some Ol' School Garage branding last week. Just need to wire up the new side lights and we'll be ready to roll.

Custom exhaust...

Leon Betts

Tim tacks pieces of the exhaust in place. He will tack weld the entire system together to make sure it is located just how he wants. The V-band clamp joiners allow the system to be disassembled into three separate pieces. Once he has everything exactly where he wants, Tim will finish the TIG welds the welding bench.

The crossover pipe balances the exhaust pulses from either cylinder bank of the V8 to smooth exhaust flow and increase engine efficiency...so I've been told!

My '55 Chev 2-door Hardtop is going to be pretty fancy...so, it needs a fancy exhaust to match. Something that looks great, performs well and, most importantly, sounds the goods. And Tim is in charge of making it happen and is fabricating a custom 2.5", TIG-welded exhaust complete with a crossover pipe, billet hangers, Aeroflow mufflers and resonators. When complete, the exhaust will be ceramic coated in my favourite colour...black.

Another day in paradise...

Leon Betts

I did a quick walk around this morning. Everyone seems to be flat out. Just as we like it. Here's some photos showing what the Ol' School Garage team is up to.

El Camino upgrade...

Leon Betts

This '60 El Camino is one of my all-time favourite Ol' School Garage builds. I originally built this ute for myself but rarely got the chance to drive it. Harry, the new owner, doesn't share this problem. In fact, he is in the ute so much he decided to add a few creature comforts...FiTech EFI, aircon, digital gauge cluster and retractable seat belts. The ute is proof that we can make a good thing better!

HQ's galore...

Leon Betts

We currently have one HQ in the paint shop. It just received a coat of epoxy primer and body work is set to continue for another week or so. We have another HQ in the fab shop undergoing accident and rust repairs. I'm a firm believer that you can't have enough HQ's in the shop...a true Aussie icon.

Cheers Leon

This HQ just received a couple of coats of epoxy primer. The panels are currently being prepped and will get the same treatment later today.

It's a safe bet that any HQ will arrive with lots of rust in the bottom of the rear windscreen surround.

Yank tanks galore...

Leon Betts

Kane took along our '55 Cadillac Coupe Deville to check out the Yank Tank Display held on the second Saturday of each month at Masters at Upper Coomera. He said it's a great show and Ol' School Garage will definitely be back next month. Might take the '60 Lincoln next time. I've included some of Kane's photos below including our Caddy.

Cheers Leon

Fuel injected '55 Chev...

Leon Betts

A few weeks back I posted some photos of a new FiTech 600 HP EFI system Tim installed on a big block in a customer's '60 El Camino. Well, it was so good that I've purchased the exact same system for my '55 Chev 2-door Hardtop build. The '55 build is progressing to plan and I hope to be cruising around by Christmas.
