Our 65 Mustang project has now been disassembled. Just as we thought, the car is extremely solid and represents an ideal starting point for our resto-mod build.
We found minimal rust and accident damage. As you will see in the first photo, at some stage in the car'a life it received a hit in the LH quarter. No structural damage was found but Roland will tidy up the old repairs as we always want to minimise the amount of filler used.
A couple of rust repairs were required on the bottom of the LH door and bottom of the rear windscreen surround. Believe me...we are used to dealing with a lot more rust than this.
The engine and transmission have been sent to the engine room for Jackie's inspection. I will let you know how this panned out early in the week.
The body will be sent out for media blasting when the rust repairs are complete. You may be wondering why we are doing the repairs prior to blasting. The body was actually blasted before we purchased the car, so we just want to get rid of the surface rust before we start doing bodywork.
