When it comes to engine re-builds and upgrades, Ol' School Garage has all bases covered. As many of you know first hand, our workshop manager and qualified engine builder Craig 'Jackie' Johnston has a reputation for building tough engines. To assist Jackie with his heavy workload, we are lucky to also have two highly qualified and experienced 'old school' mechanics on staff.
Although I am unlikely win an Oscar for my photography, I wanted to share this video featuring the re-built small block in our 1960 Chevy Impala. This is a matching numbers car, so I wanted to retain the small block...but I also wanted Jackie to squeeze as much power as he could without sacrificing reliability.
Jackie's solution...add some basic performance components including an aggressive cam, alloy heads, alloy inlet manifold, new carby, all new internals, etc, etc. The machining process also provided a performance windfall in the form of small gain in capacity. The blue-printed engine also features a valve job, headers and new exhaust to help it breath a little better.
Sounds great and goes hard!
