We purchased an original gravity fed petrol pump straight out of the 20's a couple of months ago. Although it was a little worse for wear when we picked it up from the Blue Mountains, the workshop team has almost completed the magnificent restoration.
One slight hitch...no-one can locate the photos taken when the pump was disassembled...rookie error. Luckily I took some photos myself and downloaded them for safe keeping. However, I wasn't there for the entire disassembly process. So there has been a little trial and error that should have been avoided.
Anyway, I am sure that Trent and Mark (work experience student) will nut it out tomorrow. They have spent most of the week soda blasting, sand blasting, cleaning and painting components. Although no-one will probably ever know, the internals have been beautifully restored. I for one appreciate their attention to detail.
