The restoration of our '76 Harley Davidson Bagger is well underway. Jackie purchased a heap of parts to replace those too badly corroded to be refurbished. The rusty spokes have been removed and the rims have been re-laced with new spokes. The saddle and pillion seat have been recovered in black leather.
However, it was the team in the paint shop that had to put in the hard yards in order to save the custom pinstriping and rejuvenate the damaged paint job. I am sure you will agree that Alex and Jamie have done a great job restoring the paint and it is looking better than new. They managed to save most of the artwork and pinstriping and Sam Keddie, our talented sign writer, was able to replicate what couldn't be saved.
Jamie somehow managed to match the burgundy pearl paint...the difficulty of this task will only truly be understood by experienced painters.
Next week Jackie will have the fun job of putting everything back together without scratching the new paint. Of course there is a lot of polishing to be done before and during assembly. I will share some more photos when assembly is complete.
