Our auto-electrician finished wiring our El Camino late last week allowing us to run the 454 for the first time on Friday. This engine was fully rebuilt by our very own engine guru, Craig 'Jackie' Johnston. It ran without incident for 15 to 20 minutes in order to run-in the cam.
This build is coming to an end and I can't wait to share the finished product with you. It is something else...a stunning two-tone paint job, all chrome and stainless has been painted in body colour, some subtle pin-stripping, leather custom interior...not to mention the big brute of an engine under hood.
I wanted a solid cover for the tub. However, the available after market covers were fibreglass, very chunky and looked pretty ordinary. So I asked Jackie and Adam to fab a custom 'flush-fit' cover out of aluminium plate. I think it will look much better. But I will share some photos soon so you can make up your own mind.
